Former West K. captain French earns offensive nod in Atlantic Hockey

A six-point weekend on the road not only vaulted Max French into the top-five in NCAA Div. I scoring, it also earned him the Atlantic Hockey offensive player of the week award.

Centering Bentley University’s top line, French had the goal that ensured a point in a 4-4 draw Friday at American International College. He outdid that the next night, getting in on each goal in a 5-2 victory at AIC. After scoring the game’s opening goal, he set up the other four as Bentley improved to 7-4-2 in conference games.

French, a West Kelowna native, is now fifth in NCAA scoring on the season with 13 goals and 11 assists for 24 points. Linemate and Nanaimo Clippers alum Andrew Gladiuk is second in the nation with 14 goals and 27 points.

With West Kelowna, French played four seasons and racked up 67 goals and 82 assists for 149 points in 193 games played.
