Wenatchee Wild defenceman Zak Galambos has committed to play for the Minnesota State University Mavericks for the 2018-19 season.
In his first season in the BCHL, Galambos put up five goals and 23 assists for 28 points in Wenatchee as a part of the highest-scoring group of defencemen in the league. The native of Walnut Creek, Calif. has also contributed a goal and four assists in Wenatchee’s seven playoff games.
Minnesota State plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). The Mavericks recently lost to Michigan Tech in the semifinals of the WCHA tournament, but they still qualified for the NCAA tournament and will take on Minnesota Duluth in their first game on Friday.
Minnesota State’s current roster features former Penticton Vees forwards Steen Cooper and Brad McClure as well as former Alberni Valley Bulldogs goalie Connor LaCouvee.
Galambos’ teammate in Wenatchee Lucas Sowder is also committed to the Mavericks next season along with Jacob Berger of the Merritt Centennials and Ryan Sandelin of the Penticton Vees.
