Grizzlies’ Allan named BCHL Player of the Week

Victoria Grizzlies forward Alex Allan has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending October 18th, the league announced Monday.

Allan led the Grizzlies to a pair of victories in two home games last week, defeating the Cowichan Valley Capitals and Salmon Arm SilverBacks on Friday and Saturday respectively at the Bear Mountain Arena. The 20-year old forward scored three goals and seven points in those two games, and was named the game's first star after Friday's 7-4 defeat of the Capitals.

Allan scored twice and added a pair of assists against Cowichan Valley, and followed up a night later with a goal and two assists in a 7-3 win over Salmon Arm that ended the SilverBacks' six-game winning streak.

On the season, the Alabama-Huntsville committed forward has scored five goals and 13 points in 13 games. He is on pace to eclipse the 53 points he tallied with the Prince George Spruce Kings during his rookie year in the league last season.

Following the two weekend wins, the Grizzlies are now 7-4-1-1 and sit fourth in the Coastal Conference standings. Victoria returns to the ice on Wednesday when they host the Penticton Vees.
