Haas’ Hub with Patrick Haas

Week 12 of the BCHL season is now in the books and the December 1st carding deadline is fast approaching. On Monday all teams in the league have a maximum of 25 player cards to work with. It will be interesting to see which teams get older and which teams get younger.

Coming into the deadline the injury-riddled Burnaby Express are the oldest team in the league followed by Cowichan Valley and Powell River. Surprisingly Alberni Valley is the fourth oldest team in the BCHL.

On the flip side the Langley Chiefs have the youngest team in the league. The next four youngest teams are Penticton, Vernon, Victoria, and Westside and they all own very good winning percentages.

Denver Manderson of the Penticton Vees is on a seven-game point streak good for 15 points. The 19-Year-Old from Fergus, Ontario is in his second season in the BCHL. and has points in 13 of his 14 games this season with the only game he did not score coming October 26th at Merritt. Former Vee Anthony Pericaro made his return to Penticton on Wednesday and told Emanuel Sequeira of the Penticton Western News, “I didn't have good blood with everybody when I left,” he responded. “What goes around comes around.” The rest of the article is here.

The Powell River Kings' Erik Vos is on a ten game point streak for 16 points while Kyle Bodie has points in eight straight games for a total of also 16 points. Four of Powell River's five overtime games have went to the final fifth period.

Wes McLeod of the Prince George Spruce Kings is on a five-game point streak. The 18-Year-Old from Kamloops has already surpassed last seasons 58 game rookie point total of 14 with 19 points in 26 games thus far. McLeod is set to play for the University of Alaska Anchorage next season. Sean Ambrosie and Sam Muchalla are on seven game point streaks with both gathering 11 points in that time. Quote of the Week goes to Kings' goaltender Kevin Genoe for telling Ted Clarke of the Prince George Citizen, “I felt a little out of sorts with myself in the first and second periods, fighting the puck a little, but in the third period I was able to get back into the Genoe show, and hopefully I can carry that on the rest of the season,” the full article is here. The Spruce Kings are averaging the fifth most shots per game at 32.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks' Keenan Desmet is on a five game point streak and has at least a point in 16 of his last 17 games. The 20-Year-Old from Strathmore, Alberta is in his first season with the Backs after playing two years in Victoria. Justin Cseter is also on a five game point streak good for nine points. From Menomonie, Wisconsin Cseter is also a 20-Year-Old and is playing in his first BCHL. campaign after four seasons in the United States Hockey League.

Mike Henderson of the Surrey Eagles is on a five-game point streak which is his third five-gamer of the season. The 19-Year-Old from Bloomington, Indiana is also in his first BCHL. season after playing one year in the USHL.
