Holst and Hertz combine to lead Mills to home ice win over Trail

Taylor Holst and Trever Hertz each picked up multi-point games as the Quesnel Millionaires took two points from the Trail Smoke Eaters with a 4-2 win on home ice Friday night.

Nicholas Kerr opened the scoring for Quesnel at the 15:40 mark of the first period, beating Trail starter Kiefer Smiley off a Tyson Price feed. Erik Hansen doubled the home team's lead lidway through the second period, and Holst replied early in the third to a Scott Jacklin effort to restore the Mills' two goal lead.

Michael Betz and Breyden DeCock traded goals in the final minute of regulation to round out the 4-2 final.

Millionaires starter Kirby Halcrow made 31 saves and was named the game's first star in the win, while Smiley faced 39 shots in the loss.

The Millionaires return to the ice on Saturday night with a visit to Prince George, while Trail concludes its three-game Northern road swing with a visit to Williams Lake.
