Hopkins earns BCHLPOW

West Kelowna Warriors goaltender Connor Hopkins has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 23, the league announced Monday.

Hopkins shined at the Bauer BCHL Showcase, posting a sparkling .965 save percentage and a goals-against average of 1.00 in two Warriors wins, including his first BCHL shutout.

On Thursday afternoon, Hopkins stopped all 35 shots he faced as West Kelowna handed the Prince George Spruce Kings their first loss of the season in a 4-0 shutout performance and the Malden, Mass. native was named the game’s first star. The following day, Hopkins made another 20 saves in his team’s 4-2 win over the Nanaimo Clippers, improving their record to 3-3-0.

After this weekend’s games, Hopkins is 3-2-0 with a .908 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.98 with one shutout, while playing the fourth-most minutes in the BCHL.
