Horsman scores twice late, completes hat trick in OT for Caps home win

Captain Kyle Horsman scored twice late in the third period and completed the hat trick in overtime to deliver a 6-5 Cowichan Valley Capitals home win over the West Kelowna Warriors.

Jonathan Desbiens' second goal of the game gave the Warriors a 5-3 edge with just under seven minutes to go. But Horsman converted twice on feeds from Brayden Gelsinger to send the game to overtime. At the 3:22 mark of OT, Horsman completed the hat trick and won the game for the Caps.

Lane Michasiw made 36 saves for the win, including 10 in the first period when the Caps were outshot 11-3.

Dylan Haugen's goal early in the second period proved to be the winner as the Alberni Valley Bulldogs came into Chilliwack and defeated the Chiefs 4-2. After Haugen made it 3-0 'Dogs, Evan MacEachern and Jake Hand scored for Chiliwack to get them within one. Kurt Gosselin scored the insurance in the third for Alberni Valley.

Dante Fabbro's power-play goal was the only one of the game as the Penticton Vees downed the Vernon Vipers 1-0. Penticton wound up 1-for-2 on the man advantage while Vernon was 0-for-3. Hunter Miska made 29 saves for his second shutout of the season.

The Victoria Grizzlies built up a 4-0 lead, including two goals from Jay Mackie, and held on for a 5-4 win over the visiting Surrey Eagles. Spencer Unger and Spencer Meyer got the Eagles back within two in the second and Darius Davidson made it a one-goal game in the third. Garrett Forster's tally was the winner as Liam Fordy scored the fourth Eagles goal in the final tally of the game.

James Neil scored in the first and again in third and Dan Nachbaur added a pair of his own in a 5-1 Merritt Centennials win over the Powell River Kings. Kurt Keats got the lone Kings goal on the power play in the second. Nachbaur's first was the wiinning goal and Anthony Pupplo made 24 saves for the win.

Brent Lashuk broke a deadlock with pair of third-period goals in a 4-1 Prince George Spruce Kings win over the visiting Trail Smoke Eaters. Bryan Basilico opened the scoring in the second for the visitors but Adam Clements tied it shortly after. In addition to Lashuk's pair, Marco Ballarin scored in the third.

Kevan Kilistoff scored twice as part of a five-goal first period for the Langley Rivermen in a 6-1 win over the Coquitlam Express. Charlie Pelnik made it 6-0 for Langley in his first game back with the Rivermen. Brett Supinski had the lone Express tally in the third on the man advantage. Bo Didur made 32 saves for the win.
