House earns All-New England award from hockey writers

Penticton Vees alum Tanner House has earned more recognition following his outstanding senior season with the University of Maine Black Bears.

The New England Hockey Writers Association has named him the recipient of the Frank Jones Award as the top defensive forward from all NCAA college hockey teams in the region.

This comes on the heels of House earning the Hockey East conference Gladiator Best Defensive Forward award and signing a two-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers.

House has been playing with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League since the Black Bears season ended.

The New England Hockey Writers Association names award winners and an all-star team from the region annually. New England coaches also cast votes in for the all stars and award winners. A banquet will be held April 13 in Massachusetts to recognize the recipients.

House tallied 10 goals and 25 assists in 35 games this year with Maine. In two seasons with Penticton, he scored 28 goals and 72 assists in 110 games.
