Former Vees, Capitals and Silverbacks forward Steven Iacobellis of the University of Massachusetts has been named the Hockey East player of the week after a strong showing against Michigan State.
Iacobellis was in on each UMass goal in a 4-3 comeback win over the Spartans Saturday. The native of Port Coquitlam, B.C. tallied the game-tying goal late in the third and then set up the winner with 9.9 seconds left in regulation.
The four points were a career high for Iacobellis at the NCAA level. It's the first Hockey East award he has earned as well.
In 149 career BCHL games, Iacobellis tallied 35 goals and 65 assists for 100 points.
