It’s Official: Cowichan Valley carries the biggest stick

20 years after Duncan's 63-metre hockey stick took its place outside the town's Community Centre and Arena, the Guinness Book of World Records is set to recognize it as the largest in existence. The stick, which towers over the Cowichan Valley Capitals' home rink, will offically receieve the distinction in a ceremony on July 14th.

The title was previously held by a Minnesota-based stick that dwarfed in comparison at just 21 metres in length.

Cowichan Valley's stick first marked the entrance of the Expo 86 fair in Vancouver 22 years ago. The town won a heated competition to win the priviledge of giving it a permanent home.
