Jones brothers pot six points each in lopsided Vipers win

Through September, it seemed as though the Vipers' dynamic duo of twin brothers Connor and Kellen Jones were taking some time to get on track offensively. But it's safe to say they figured things out on Saturday night, each tallying six points in a 14-0 win over the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Connor Jones scored five goals on the night, including a first period hat trick, while Kellen scored one of his own while adding five assists. A number of other Vipers, including Sawyer Mick, Rob Short, Braden Pimm, Cole Ikkala and Mike Collins enjoyed three-point outings.

Vernon jumped out to an 8-0 lead through 20 minutes, including a span where they scored four times in 1:02.

Blake Voth picked up the shutout in net for Vernon, turning aside 16 shots.

The Capitals will be looking to rebound quickly from the loss when they face the Westside Warriors on Sunday in the final game of their four-game Interior Conference road trip. The Vipers, meanwhile, face a home meeting versus the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon at the Wesbild Centre.
