Jones off to Bemidji State in 2019-20

Trail Smoke Eaters forward Carter Jones has committed to play for the Bemidji State University Beavers for the 2019-20 season.

Jones enjoyed a productive first season in the BCHL as the 18-year-old scored 15 goals and added 30 assists for 45 points in 55 games. He’s also continued that success into the playoffs, putting up six points in seven games during Trail’s run to the Interior Division final.

Bemidji State plays in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) along with Alabama Huntsville, Alaska Anchorage, Alaska, Bowling Green, Ferris State, Lake Superior State, Michigan Tech, Minnesota State and Northern Michigan.

The Beavers’ season wrapped up in early March after losing to Michigan Tech in the quarterfinals of the WCHA tournament.

Their 2017-18 roster featured former BCHL players Brendan Harris, Charlie Combs, Connor Brown-Maloski and triplets Leo, Gerry and Myles Fitzgerald.

Nanaimo Clippers forward Brad Belisle, Penticton Vees forward Owen Sillinger and Jones’ teammate in Trail Ross Armour have all committed to play at Bemidji State next season.
