Chilliwack Chiefs captain Jordan Kawaguchi has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending April 23, the league announced Monday.
Kawaguchi added to his big lead in the playoff scoring table as he had nine points and was named 2nd Star in each of Games 3, 4 and 5 of the Fred Page Cup BCHL Finals. The Abbotsford product had both Chiefs goals in a 5-2 loss in Penticton in Game 3 and produced a goal and two helpers in Game 4’s overtime setback. Kawaguchi was in on each goal, scoring twice and adding two assists in a 4-2 home win in Game 5 that kept the Finals going.
The 5-foot-9, 180-pound forward has 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points in 21 playoff games. He is committed to North Dakota for next season.
