Kinch, Stefanek, Kim named FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month

Nanaimo Clippers forward Dylan Kinch and Trail Smoke Eaters forwards Jason Stefanek and Christian Kim have been named the FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month.

1st Star – Dylan Kinch (F) – Nanaimo Clippers

Kinch led all BCHL players in scoring in the month of January with 21 points in eight games. His nine goals and 12 assists were also the most in the league.

The 20-year-old registered at least a point in seven of eight games during the month, including a stretch of six contests where he piled up 18 points. From Jan. 3 to 24, Kinch put up five straight games with at least three points.

The Long Island University commit currently sits in fourth in league scoring with 53 points in 38 contests.

2nd Star – Jason Stefanek (F) – Trail Smoke Eaters

Stefanek finished January with five goals, 10 helpers and 15 points in six games, ranking second in both assists and points during the month.

The Yorba Linda, Calif. native had a point in all six January games, all but one being a multi-point effort. His most notable performance came in a Jan. 4 game against the Penticton Vees where he was in on all three of his team’s goals, with two tallies and an assist, including the overtime winner, in a 3-2 victory in extra time.

Stefanek is the Smokies leading scorer and has climbed into a tie for eighth overall in BCHL scoring with 45 points in 38 games.

3rd Star – Christian Kim (F) – Trail Smoke Eaters

Kim averaged over two points per game in January, finishing the month with 13 in six games on six goals and seven assists.

The third-year BCHL veteran had a point in every game during the month and produced multiple points in fix of six contests. He notched a pair of goals in a Jan. 11 win against the Okotoks Oilers, then produced goal and two assists on two separate occasions, a Jan. 24 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders and victory against the Cranbrook Bucks on the final day of the month.

Kim currently sits in 10th in league scoring with 41 points in 38 games.
