Kings’ Campbell commits to Div. III St. Norbert for 2010/11 season

The British Columbia Hockey League's Powell River Kings are proud to announce that graduating defenceman Reid Campbell has committed to attend St. Norbert College in Green Bay, Wisconsin and become a member of the NCAA Division III Green Knights.

The native of Haines Junction, Yukon spent four years patrolling the blue line for the Kings and was an integral part in the teams’ dramatic turnaround from a .500 hockey club to an elite team in the BCHL.

“The BCHL is great at promoting its players to the NCAA” added Reid. “My time with the Kings really prepared me for this next level in my career and I’d like to thank my billets, teammates, coaches and the fans. I loved every minute in Powell River and I wish I could go back to being a 17-year old and play for the green and gold again, but now I’ll be playing for a different green and gold.”

Head Coach and General Manager Kent Lewis continued, “In all my years as a coach Reid is one of those special players that define what your program is all about. I have no doubt that Reid will do in college what he did in junior and become a key component in the continued success of the Green Knights program.”

St. Norbert competes in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association. The Green Knights finished second in the nation in 2010 after falling in overtime of the National Championship Game last season. The squad has been a top-four Division III team in six of the last eight seasons including a National Championship in 2008.
