Kings earn OT win to move past Eagles into second place

Both teams earned points in the standings but it was the Powell River Kings earning the full two points to take over second place with a 3-2 overtime win against the visiting Surrey Eagles.

Andrew Hunt almost stole the game for the Eagles making 43 saves but it was Craig Dalrymple's OT winner that pushed the Kings past Surrey in the game and the standings.

Tyler Morley's shorthanded goal opened the scoring midway through the first, Teal Burns and Cohen Adair put Powell River ahead in the second but Brandon Tanev got the equalizer just before the end of the middle frame.

In Nanaimo, the Clippers got an outstanding effort from goalie Billy Faust who made 52 saves but in the end it was Jake Charles getting the OT winner for the Cowichan Valley Capitals. Brendan Forbes for Nanaimo and Logan Proulx exchanged first-period goals for the only scoring of regulation.

After a scoreless first in Merritt, the Centennials got the game-winner from Carter Shinkaruk on the power play in the second as Lino Chimienti posted 22 saves for a 3-0 win. Evan Stack scored a pair in the third.

Another shutout was posted by Westside's Dwayne Rodrigue as he made 31 stops in a 4-0 blanking of Salmon Arm. Marcus Basara's goal in the second proved to be the winner. Connor Dempsey added a goal and two helpers.

The Chilliwack Chiefs crept two points closer to the Prince George Spruce Kings by defeating them 4-3 at home. PG held a 3-2 edge midway through third after Myles Fitzgerald banged home a juicy rebound but David Bondra's power-play goal tied it and Derek Huisman converted the winner shortly after on a nice feed from Michael Spring.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs scored three times in the first period and went on to a 6-3 win over the visting Victoria Grizzlies. Ryan Lough's second-period goal ended up being the winner and made it 4-0 'Dogs at the time. Hunter Stewart, in his first BCHL game, was 1st Star with a goal and an assist for Alberni Valley.

Wade Murphy scored a hat trick in his first game with the Penticton Vees and teammate Steven Fogarty had one too in a 9-2 win over the visiting Langley Rivermen. Fogarty's shorthanded, unassisted goal early in the second proved the winner and the Vees added five more in the third.

A 3-3 tie heading into the third was broken by the Coquitlam Express' Malcolm McKinney as the visitors went on to a 5-3 win in Trail. In the middle frame, the Smokies' Erik Cooper scored his second of the game and Marley Keca tied it a minute later but Coquitlam netted a pair in the third including the final tally by Brady Shaw.
