Kings’ forward Bodie commits to Union College

Powell River, BC – The Powell River Kings are proud to announce that forward and assistant captain Kyle Bodie has committed to attend NCAA Division I Union College for the 2009/10 season.

Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bodie joined the Kings during the 2006/07 season and has been a key component of the roster since day one.

This year Kyle has had a huge offensive impact on the ice and currently stands third in league scoring with 16 goals and 30 assists. Kyle and his younger brother Mat have quarterbacked the Kings’ league-leading power play. Bodie brings great vision, an incredible shot, and maturity to the Kings’ squad each time he steps on the ice.

“Kyle has been in the program a few years and is deserving of this scholarship,” Kings head coach Kent Lewis says. “He has elevated his game every year and has become one of the more dominant players in the league. Union is going to have a real solid player for four years.”

Bodie will be joining former Kings Mike Wakita and Adam Presizniuk along with hometown friend Kelly Zajac in New York to play under Dutchman’s head coach Nate Leaman. Bodie chose Union as a result of its highly established hockey program and for being an institution that is recognized for its strong academics.

Kyle looks forward to pursuing his passion for the game while studying towards a psychology degree.
