The Powell River Kings Junior `A’ Hockey Club is proud to be a part of the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay when it comes through Powell River on Wednesday, February 3rd.
20 players from the Kings will carry the torch for one kilometre from Willington Beach along Marine Ave to the base of Duncan Street beginning at approximately 6:49 pm. Each player will get to carry the torch for 50 meters.
“This is fantastic for our guys and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” says Kings head coach and general manager Kent Lewis. “representing our community as well as our team and the BCHL.”
The relay will be streamed in live video through the CTV website. Once the torch arrives at the Recreation Complex at approximately 7:30 pm there will be a Community Torch Relay Celebration finishing off with an extravagant fireworks show.
