The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are proud to announce forward Brett Knowles has committed to Minnesota State University – Mankato for the 2012 season.

Knowles, 19, was recognized as Salmon Arm's most dedicated player at the team’s year-end awards banquet and had a breakout sophomore season in the BCHL – registering 30 goals and 28 assists in 57 games played to go along with 58 penalty minutes.

“Brett has made huge strides in his play this season,” said SilverBacks bench boss Tim Kehler. “Moving into an offensive role with our club but still maintaining that physical edge in his game that makes him a hard to handle power forward.”

Knowles, a Vanderhoof, B.C. native, becomes the second SilverBack in the last week to accept a scholarship to the NCAA Division I Mavericks, following the Bryce Gervais commitment last week, and brings the total number of NCAA commitments to eight for this year’s SilverBack roster.
