Vernon Vipers forward Matt Kowalski has been named the Subway BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 12.
The 20-year-old had an impressive weekend, scoring his second hat trick of the season on Saturday in a 7-4 victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. He added a pair of assists in the game for a five-point night, also his second of the season, and was named first star.
He followed up that performance with another multi-point effort on Sunday afternoon, chipping in with two assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in the Vipers 5-3 comeback victory against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
This is second Player of the Week honour so far this season for the Vernon native. Kowalski leads the Vipers in scoring and, after his performance over the weekend, has crept into the top-10 in BCHL scoring, tied for ninth with 44 points in 42 games. His 23 goals are also tied for the third-most in the league.
