Last-minute Vees comeback stuns visiting Kings

Just when it looked like the Powell River Kings would win their eighth straight game, the Penticton Vees popped two goals in the final minute and got the double-OT winner from Brad McClure to snatch victory on home ice.

Luke Nogard and Jarryd Leung had staked the Kings to a 3-1 third period lead but McClure and Paul Stoykewych scored at 19:19 and 19:57 respectively to force overtime. McClure scored late in the second OT session.

Hunter Miska made 22 saves for the win while Jonah Imoo made 34 saves in the Kings net.

Jayson Argue kicked out all 24 pucks that came his way and Colton Dahlen scored a pair for the Nanaimo Clippers as they defeated the visiting Cowichan Valley Capitals 3-0. Dahlen scored in the first and second while Mason Mitchel added the final tally in the third.

The Vernon Vipers scored three times in the third period and got the Ot winner from Jason Bird to seal a come-from-behind 5-4 road win over the Chilliwack Chiefs. Goals in the second by Carter Cochrane, T.J. Roche and Kurt Black put the Chiefs up 4-1 after two but the a pair from Mason Blacklock, including the tying goal with 1:22 left forced overtime.

The Prince George Spruce Kings made a three-goal first period stand up for a 3-2 road win over the West Kelowna Warriors. Skylar Pacheco and Justin Rai scored 19 seconds apart in the opening fram before Seb Lloyd got the Warriors on the board. Christian Weidauer's power-play goal was the winner for PG. Carl Hesler had a third-period tally for West Kelowna but that's as close as it got.

It's six straight wins for the Langley Rivermen as they downed the visiting Surrey Eagles 3-1. Mitch Fyffe opened the scoring for Surrey in the second but Jakob Reichert tied it and Mitch McLain and Nathan Craft, into an empty net, tallied in the third to seal the deal.

Gordie Defiel made 37 saves for the Coquitlam Express in a 4-2 road win over the Merritt Centennials. Canon Pieper's goal in the second was the winner shortly after Diego Cuglietta had gotten the Cents on the board. Devin Oakes' first BCHL goal got the Cents within one again in the third but Adam Rockwood scored into an empty net to finish things off.

A four-goal first-period ambush by the Victoria Grizzlies was more than enough in a 5-1 road win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Storm Wahlrab, Jesse Schwarz and David Walchuk scored for the Grizz before Zach Funk got the 'Dogs lone tally. Chris Albertini scored 58 seconds later and and Gerry Fitzgerald had a second-period tally.
