Leafs win bidding war for BCHL grad Bozak

It didn't take long for British Columbia Hockey League grad Tyler Bozak long to find a new home.

Less than a week after the Victoria Grizzlies alum had his NCAA season end with a loss to Miami-Ohio and hit the free agent market, he has signed an entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to reports from TSN's Darren Dreger, as many as 25 teams were in the hunt for Bozak — including all six Canadian clubs.

Bozak was limited by injury during his sophomore year with the Pioneers, but scored eight goals and 23 points in 19 games. He began capturing the attention of scouts as a freshman, when he burst on the scene with a 34-point season.

Overlooked to NHL scouts prior to college in part due to his size, Bozak has added some bulk to go with his dynamic skill set and skating. He notched 128 points in his final season in Victoria, beating out Kyle Turris for the BCHL scoring league. In three seasons with the club, Bozak totalled 228 points in 170 games.
