MacMillan strikes again as Bulldogs down Kings

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs extended their season-high winning streak to 12 games and took a commanding 13-point lead over their nearest Coastal Conference competition on Friday night, scoring a 3-2 road victory over the Powell River Kings.

The home side took an early lead just 28 seconds into regulation when Reid Campbell bested Bulldogs netminder Frank Slubowski, but Alberni Valley stormed back before intermission and took the lead on goals from Jeff Reppucci and Mitch MacMillan.

The Kings caught up midway through the second on a Cody Rainaldi tally, but Mark MacMillan put the visitors ahead for good with 4:47 remaining in the third frame. Slubowski stopped 28 shots for the victory, while Kings counterpart Josh Watson made 23 saves in the loss.

Mitch MacMillan's first period marker draws him to 47 goals in 47 games. He will have the opportunity to inch closer to an incredible 50 in 50 when the Bulldogs visit the Burnaby Express on Saturday evening. The Kings, meanwhile, remain on home ice while welcoming the Nanaimo Clippers.
