Mainland Update with Colin Tiggelaar

I don’t want to get into too much trouble with this.however; I want to see some different teams!

Let me clarify my statement: All four teams in the Mainland Division have seen a lot of each other in the first three weeks of the season. Powell River and Burnaby have played three times already and the Kings have the Express’ number so far. I guess PR is not complaining.

Surrey and Langley have met twice. The Eagles hosted the Kings as well. Langley has also hosted the Express, while Surrey and Burnaby played a home and home last weekend and the Chiefs were in Powell River for two games.

Now I know that there are reasons for the unbalanced schedule, and they all make sense. The parity in the league the past few seasons has been incredible and fans like seeing other teams.

If you read Dan Marshall’s blog last week, he notes what he thinks are the biggest rivalries. This schedule does add to the meetings between the rivals.

Chiefs/Eagles is one that gets a lot of attention amongst their fans and Express/Chiefs is one that has heated up over the last number of years thanks to playoff match-ups.

The Kings are now in the mix and with the playoff meeting with Surrey last season.

So, I guess what I am getting at is that the first month of the season has been Division-filled and finally the second month will provide fans with some different teams on a more regular basis.

Am I making sense?.I hope so.

Pack the rink this weekend folks and support your team!
