McCauley to attend University of Windsor in the fall

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks are pleased to announce another post-secondary commitment from the 2011-2012 roster. 20 year old forward Myles McCauley has committed to play for the University of Windsor Lancers.

The native of Sterling Heights, Mich. will be playing at a higher level while enjoying the aspect of playing in a program that is extremely close to his home town,

"Nothing beats living in your own bed, with family around" said McCauley, "It's only a half hour from my house to the campus off the bridge and tunnel to the rink."

McCauley was good for 25 points during his 36 games as a SilverBack after his acquisition from the Penticton Vees in November. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder played in the OHL prior to joining Penticton last year and began this season in the USHL.

"I've moved around a good amount my junior years, ups and downs around every corner," he says. "I've grown up the past 5-6 years living away from home, different billets, coaches, teammates, roommates, you name it. I've seen a lot and played a lot of hockey in a few different leagues and learned a lot about myself."

The former Peterborough Pete, Plymouth Whaler, Sault Ste. Marie Greyhound, Penticton Vee and Omaha Lancer has a good idea of what his roll will be with Windsor

"I have to earn my ice time, which I love; the challenge of getting special team minutes and a top six role, I feel confident if I put in the worth; I can help the team win"

The organization would like to thank Myles for his teaching approach with younger players and dedication to the game while wishing him and his family all the best with the University of Windsor.
