McKinnon, Pirtle, Glavič named NAPA Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week

Sherwood Park Crusaders forward Malachi McKinnon, Victoria Grizzlies forward Chase Pirtle and West Kelowna Warriors goaltender Bor Glavič have been named the NAPA Auto Parts 3 stars of the week.

1st Star of the Week – Malachi McKinnon(F) – Sherwood Park Crusaders

McKinnon was instrumental in the Crusaders’ back-to-back wins last weekend as the rookie forward had four goals and two assists for six points.

After recording a goal and two assists in an 8-4 road victory over the Spruce Grove Saints on Friday night, McKinnon led the way offensively against the Brooks Bandits on Saturday, recording a hat-trick in a 5-3 victory.

The 2007-born forward ranks fifth in team scoring and fourth in BCHL rookie scoring this season with 30 points in 25 games played.

2nd Star of the Week – Anderson Pirtle(F) – Victoria Grizzlies

Pirtle came into this weekend on a seven-game point streak and extended that run with back-to-back three points games over the weekend.

The Grizzlies forward recorded identical stat lines in both games, with a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win against the Cowichan Valley Capitals and an 8-7 overtime win over the Powell River Kings.

The 19-year-old Far Hills, N.J. native leads his team in points (44), goals (17) and assists (27) in 33 games. Pirtle also ranks fourth overall in the BCHL in points.

3rd Star of the Week – Bor Glavič (G) – West Kelowna Warriors

In two starts last week, Glavič recorded a pair of wins while allowing only three goals, turning away 56 of the 59 shots that he faced, finishing with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .949 save percentage in back-to-back wins.

The Slovenian netminder stopped 20 of 21 shots on Friday night in a 3-1 home win over the Okotoks Oilers and was named first star of the game. Glavič was back in net on Sunday where he made 36 saves in a 3-2 victory against the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

In four starts since joining the Warriors in late December, the 18-year-old has a perfect 4-0-0 record with a .934 save percentage and a 1.89 goals-against average.
