Moore shrugs aside 51 pucks as Gorillas grab 3-0 series lead on Vees

Kris Moore's play in the Salmon Arm SilverBacks' crease continues to be the story of the series against the Penticton Vees as he made 51 saves in a 2-1 Gorillas win to give them a 3-0 series lead.

Salmon Arm defenceman Josh Manson opened the scoring on the power play in the first and Jarryd Ten Vaanholt's power-play tally in the second proved the winner.

Logan Johnston had the Vees goal, also on the power play, just past the midway point of the third. Despite the fact Penticton more than doubled the number of shots Salmon Arm had in each period and outshot them 52-19 in the game, they couldn't solve Moore for the equalizer.

Moore was 1st Star for the third consecutive game and has now stopped 131 of 135 shots in the series.

Dustin Johnson had the winner for the Victoria Grizzlies who won for the second straight game in overtime with a 2-1 victory over the Powell River Kings. Victoria now leads the series 2-1. Andrew Pettitt opened the scoring for the Kings with a power play tally early in the first and the game remained 1-0 until 13:08 of the third when Madison Dias tied it for the Grizzlies. In OT, Johnson got his team-leading seventh playoff goal to win it.

The Surrey Eagles took a 3-1 lead on the Langley Chiefs with a 3-2 win in overtime. Richard Vanderhoek scored just past the eight-minute mark in both the first and second periods to put Surrey ahead but Langley got on the board with Brandon Thompson's tally and tied it in the third on a goal from Brad McBride. The first overtime was scoreless but Jeff Vanderlugt won it for Surrey at 8:13 of the second OT frame.

Goaltending also played a big part for the Westside Warriors in a 4-2 win over the Vernon Vipers, giving them a 2-1 series edge. Kevin Boyle stopped 39 of 41 shots for the home side while Tyler Brickler scored early in the first and Alex Grieve scored shorthanded early in the second. Vernon would tie the game on second-period goals by Colton Sparrow and Adam Thompson. The game remained knotted 2-2 until late when Quinn Gould scored the power-play winner and Grieve Added an empty-netter.
