More of the same from Manderson, Bennett as Vees trump Caps

Even after a week off, the Penticton Vees offence refuses to miss a beat. On Friday, the explosive trio of Denver Manderson, Beau Bennett and Garrett Milan were at it again, combining to score six points in a 5-0 road win at Cowichan Valley.

Manderson and Milan engineered Penticton's first goal, setting up Joey Laleggia for a power-play marker 11:14 into the first period. Ryan Viselli doubles the Vees' lead four minutes later to give his team a 2-0 lead after the opening frame. Goals by Stefan Nicolishen and Jake Johnson led to a Bennett marker that closed out the scoring early in the third period.

Penticton starter Sean Bonar picked up the shutout and a first star nod, turning aside 26 shots in the win. Bonar, who will represent Team Canada West at the 2009 World Junior A Challenge in November, had to be particularly sharp early in the second as the Capitals came on with his team nursed a two-goal lead.

Cowichan Valley's Alex Peck made 28 saves in a losing effort while holding the Vees to a 1-for-6 night with the man advantage.

Penticton will look for its third road victory in as many days when they visit the Nanaimo Clippers on Saturday evening, while Cowichan Valley is remains at home awaiting a Sunday visit from Westside.
