In this week’s NCAA Roundup, we highlight the eight BCHL alumni who received weekly conference awards in Division I college hockey.
ECAC Hockey Forward of the Week
Simon Labelle – Senior – Colgate University (Prince George Spruce Kings)
Last Friday night against Yale, Labelle set up teammate and fellow BCHL alumnus Ryan Spinale on a power play to score the first Raider goal of the night. Early in the second period, Labelle capitalized on a power play to make it 2-1 and went on to score the game-winning goal only 42 seconds into overtime. On Saturday, he netted his first career NCAA hat trick, two of which came on the power play, including the game-winner, to help the Raiders secure a 4-0 win against Brown.
The 23-year-old played parts of two seasons with the Prince George Spruce Kings from 2020 to 2022. During his final BCHL campaign, Labelle posted 44 points in 54 games and led the team with 32 assists.
ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week
Nathan Morin – Freshman – Dartmouth College (Salmon Arm/Chilliwack)
Morin scored the game-winning goal and his first in the NCAA against St. Lawrence. He went on to score two more, one short-handed, to complete his first career hat trick. The next night against Clarkson, he found the back of the net again for the game-winning goal to beat the Golden Knights 3-1.
The 2004-born forward spent four seasons in the BCHL, playing 211 regular season games split between the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and the Chilliwack Chiefs. He totaled 49 goals and 118 points in that time and helped the Chiefs reach the championship series his final year in the league.
Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week
Felix Trudeau – Senior – Sacred Heart University (West Kelowna Warriors)
Trudeau had a five-goal weekend, recording his first collegiate hat trick in his 100th Division I game on Friday in a 6-1 victory over Canisius College. His five goals in a single week is tied for the most in Division I this season. The Pioneer is one of three players to accomplish the feat in 2025-26.
The Terrebonne, Que. native played the 2021-22 season with the West Kelowna Warriors. He led the team in scoring that season, and also finished tied for 10th overall in the league, with 61 points in 49 contests.
Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week
Ajeet Gundarah – Sophomore – Sacred Heart University (Langley/Surrey)
Gundarah led all Atlantic Hockey goaltenders with a minimum of two appearances last week with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .943 save percentage. He stopped 50 of 53 shots against Canisius, helping his team to a two-game sweep. The 50 saves tied for the conference lead during the week.
Gundarah played three seasons in the BCHL from 2021 to 2024, the first two with the Langley Rivermen and the third with the Surrey Eagles. In his final season, he led the league with a .931 save percentage, had the second-best goals-against average at 2.14 and helped guide the Eagles to their first championship since 2013. Gundarah was rewarded with the Michael Garteig Trophy as the league’s Top Goaltender.
Atlantic Hockey Defenceman of the Week
Will Elias – Junior – College of the Holy Cross (Cowichan Valley Capitals)
Elias set a season high for points in a single series by a Holy Cross blueliner as he tallied three assists in a sweep at Air Force Academy. The Weston, Mass. native had two helpers in a 4-1 victory over the Falcons on Saturday, his first multi-point game of the season.
The 2003-born defender played the 2022-23 campaign for the Cowichan Valley Capitals where he put up five goals, 20 assists and 20 points in 52 games to lead all team blueliners.
NCHC Goaltender of the Week
Quentin Miller – Freshman – University of Denver (Chilliwack Chiefs)
Miller backstopped DU to a pair of wins, while allowing only three goals all weekend, including only one even strength. In Friday’s opener, the Montreal Canadiens draft pick totaled 29 saves, including 13 in a scoreless first period, as he held Colorado College at bay until the Pioneers rallied for a 2-1 overtime win. A night later, the freshman racked up 38 saves, including 19 in the third period, as DU won another one-goal game, 3-2.
The Montreal, Que. native played the 2024-25 campaign with the Chilliwack Chiefs where he played 10 regular season games down the stretch after returning from injury, posting a .923 save percentage, 2.29 goals-against average and an 8-2-0 record. In the playoffs, he was strong as well, going 14-9-0 with a .925 save rate, guiding the Chiefs to the championship series.
Big Ten 2nd Star of the Week
Adam Eisele – Senior – Ohio State University (Penticton Vees)
Eisele compiled a Big Ten-best four points on the weekend. He scored the go-ahead goal Friday in Ohio State’s 5-1 road win over Wisconsin, then struck for two goals on Saturday, finishing the series with nine shots and a plus-three rating. The Minnesota State transfer now has 12 career game-winning goals.
The Lake Elmo, Minn. product joined the Penticton Vees partway through the 2021-22 campaign and averaged nearly a point per game with 13 goals and 13 assists in 27 contests. Eisele was even more consistent in the postseason, finishing fourth in team scoring with 19 points in 17 games, helping the Vees to a league championship.
Hockey East Defender of the Week
Ryan Philbrick – Freshman – University of New Hampshire (Salmon Arm Silverbacks)
Philbrick netted the game-winning goal and added an assist for two points on Friday in a 6-3 win at RPI. He also led the Wildcats with five blocks on the week with three at RPI and two at Union. Philbrick leads the team with two game-winning goals.
The 2004-born defender played parts of two seasons with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks, joining them late in the 2023-24 campaign. He put up 13 points in 33 regular season games and another nine points in 22 postseason contests.
