Atlantic Hockey Forward of the Week
Matt Kursonis – Junior – College of the Holy Cross (Alberni Valley Bulldogs)
Kursonis had a goal in each game last week as Holy Cross opened its season with a split against Maine. Friday, he picked up a blocked shot in the defensive zone and raced the length of the ice for a shorthanded goal for his team’s only tally of the night. On Saturday, he opened the scoring with an even-strength goal. He had four shots on the weekend and led all skaters with 22 faceoff wins (53.7 per cent).
Kursonis played two seasons with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs from 2022 to 2024, totaling 26 goals, 28 assists and 54 points in 73 regular-season games, and another 23 points in 34 postseason contests.
Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week
Jack Lisson – Freshman – Canisius University (West Kelowna Warriors)
Lisson posted a 23-save shutout in his collegiate debut Friday night for Canisius, then came on in relief Saturday and stopped all eight shots he faced in the third period and overtime. Lisson’s Saturday night efforts allowed Canisius to come back from a 5-3 deficit to earn a tie, and he won the ensuing shootout 2-1. He is the only goaltender in the NCAA to make multiple appearances last weekend and not allow a goal.
Lisson played 10 games for the West Kelowna Warriors during the 2024-25 season, compiling a record of 2-3-3 with a .907 save percentage and a 2.98 goals-against average.
