Coquitlam Express forward Nishaan Parmar, West Kelowna Warriors forward Emmanuel Chan and Warriors goaltender Ethan Sawyer have been named the Lordco Auto Parts 3 Stars of the Week.
1st Star – Nishaan Parmar (F) – Coquitlam Express
Parmar led the BCHL in goals last week with five in two games, helping the Express win back-to-back home contests.
On Friday night, the 20-year-old broke out with a four-goal performance, including the overtime winner, in a 5-4 victory over the Powell River Kings. He was held off the score sheet in his first three games of the season, but got on the board early with a power-play marker less than five minutes into the game. He added his second before the end of the frame and already had a hat trick before the midway mark of the second period. He was named first star of the game. A night later, he scored again in a 3-2 win against the Nanaimo Clippers.
Parmar has now vaulted into second on his team in goal scoring with five.
2nd Star – Emmanuel Chan (F) – West Kelowna Warriors
Chan finished with the most points in the league last week with six in three games on four goals and two helpers.
The 2007-born forward had a hat trick last Tuesday in a road matchup with the Cranbrook Bucks. After scoring the ice breaker 4:23 into the first, he netted the go-ahead goal with just over a minute to play in the game and sealed it with an empty netter 30 seconds later in a 4-2 victory. He was named first star of the game. The following night, he had a goal and an assist in another road triumph, this time by a 4-1 score over the Trail Smoke Eaters. He wrapped up his week with one assist on Saturday in a 3-0 win over the Blackfalds Bulldogs.
Chan is currently tied for the league lead in points with 13 in seven games and leads the BCHL with nine goals.
3rd Star – Ethan Sawyer (G) – West Kelowna Warriors
Sawyer went 2-0 last week with a .976 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average, stopping 41 of 42 combined shots and earning his first shutout in the BCHL.
The West Kelowna product stopped 17 of 18 shots on Wednesday in his team’s 4-1 road win over the Trail Smoke Eaters. He got the call again on Saturday and made 24 saves to earn the shutout, including 11 in the third period, in a 3-0 Warriors win over the Blackfalds Bulldogs.
Sawyer now has a 4-2-0 record with a 2.79 goals-against average.
