Neaton nabs POW

Prince George Spruce Kings goaltender Logan Neaton has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 28, the league announced Monday.

The 20-year-old faced 102 shots over the first three games of the Spruce Kings’ Doyle Cup series against the Brooks Bandits, stopping 95 of them for a .931 save percentage, a 2.36 goals-against average and one shutout.

In Game 1, Neaton was the difference as Prince George held on to an early lead, making 30 saves for a 2-0 shutout win and a first-star honour. The next night in Game 2, the Brighton, Mich. native faced a barrage of shots, including 22 in the first period alone. He ended up making 38 saves in a 3-1 loss, but was named the game’s third star. Game 3 saw him make 27 saves in a 4-0 loss.

During PG’s run to the Fred Page Cup, Neaton led the BCHL playoffs with a .940 save percentage, a 1.46 goals-against average and two shutouts.

After playing the first three games in Brooks, the Doyle Cup series now shifts back to Prince George for the remainder of the schedule.
