Neaton’s Finals performance earns him POW

Prince George Spruce Kings goaltender Logan Neaton has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 14, the league announced Monday.

Neaton faced 52 shots over the first two games of the Fred Page Cup Finals and only two got by him as the Spruce Kings won both contests over the Vernon Vipers to take a 2-0 series lead. He finished the week with a .962 save percentage and a goals-against average of 1.00.

In Game 1 on Friday, the 20-year-old stopped 23 of 24 shots and shut the door on the Vipers after his team took the lead late in the third period as Prince George won the game 3-1. Neaton was named the game’s first star. The next night in Game 2, Neaton put in another impressive performance, stopping 27 of 28 shots and earning another first star as the Spruce Kings skated to a 4-1 win.

The Brighton, Mich. native leads the BCHL playoffs with a .940 save percentage and a 1.41 goals-against average. He’s also tied for the league lead with two shutouts.
