Penticton grad Trupp named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week

University of North Dakota junior forward and Penticton Vees grad Evan Trupp has been named WCHA Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his three-goal series in UND’s sweep last weekend at Michigan Tech.

Trupp, a native of Anchorage, Alaska, scored one goal in UND’s 4-2 win over the Huskies on Friday night, then followed with a two-goal effort – including the game-winner – in Saturday’s 4-1 victory.

Trupp recorded seven shots on goal in the series and recorded a +2 plus/minus rating. It is the first career WCHA weekly award for Trupp. He shares this week’s honor with Alaska Anchorage junior forward Sean Wiles.

In eight games this season, Trupp ranks third on the team in scoring with eight points and is tied for second in goals with four.

The 22-year old played two seasons with the Vees, scoring 49 goals and adding 80 assists in 94 games. He has accounted for 19 goals and 41 points in his two-plus seasons at North Dakota.

Trupp and the second-ranked Fighting Sioux return to Grand Forks for their first home series in a month when they host WCHA rival St. Cloud State on Friday and Saturday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.
