Powell River’s DaSilva earns scholarship to Holy Cross for 2011/12

The Powell River Kings Junior `A’ Hockey Club is proud to announce that defenceman Justin DaSilva has committed to attend the College of the Holy Cross for the 2011/12 hockey season.

The Holy Cross Crusaders play in the Atlantic Hockey Conference of NCAA Division I, and currently sport a roster that includes former Kings forward Erik Vos and fellow BCHL Grads Rob Forshner and Brodie Sheahan.

DaSilva is enjoying a successful first season in the league, having recorded two goals and six assists in 29 games while establishing himself as a physical force on the Powell River blueline.

“Justin certainly has the physical attributes to be an imposing and dominating defenceman,” says Powell River Kings Head Coach and General Manager Kent Lewis. “He has improved immensely since entering our program and his hard work was certainly noticed by the Crusaders.”

Justin is the fourth King to receive an NCAA scholarship this season, along with Mat Bodie (Union College), and Josh Watson and Matt Garbowsky (Rochester Institute of Technology).
