Prince George’s Ozbej Rep named 2025-26 Top Defenceman

Prince George Spruce Kings defenceman Ozbej Rep has been named the winner of the 2025-26 Top Defenceman Award.

Rep was the league leader in points by defencemen in the regular season with 52 in 54 contests. He also led all BCHL blueliners with 46 assists, just two back of the overall league lead in helpers. The 20-year-old Slovenian had the most power-play points among all skaters with 33, as well as the most power-play assists with 30.

Rep put together 15 multi-point games during the season, including a back-to-back where he combined for six assists in a pair of wins over the Nanaimo Clippers in mid-October. His contributions with the man advantage were a big part of the Spruce Kings owning the second best power play in the BCHL in 2025-26 with a 30 per cent success rate.

He is the third Spruce Kings player to receive this award and the first since Dave Keough in 2000.

Other finalists for the award were Alberni Valley Bulldogs defender Wyatt Davis and Sherwood Park Crusaders blueliner Erik Kald.

Individual awards are determined by a vote between the 20 BCHL head coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.
