Prince George’s Rasmussen named BCHL Player of the Week

Prince George Spruce Kings forward Zac Rasmussen has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending February 7th, the league announced Monday.

Rasmussen helped lead the Spruce Kings to a pair of wins in three games, scoring seven goals and adding two assists in that span. He began the week with a pair of goals in a 6-2 victory over Williams Lake on Wednesday and followed up that effort two nights later with a hat trick and four points in a 5-2 home ice win over Nanaimo. He closed out the week with two goals and an assist in an 8-5 loss to the Victoria Grizzlies.

The 20-year old currently sits second in team scoring with 23 goals and 48 points in 49 games. The week marked the first time in Rasmussen's 161-game BCHL career that he scored multiple goals in three consecutive games.

Honourable mentions for this week's award included Alberni Valley's David Dziurzynski, Cowichan Valley's Mike Hammond, Prince George's Sam Muchalla and Victoria's Dylan Nowakowski.

Rasmussen and the Spruce Kings are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Vernon to face the defending RBC Cup champion Vipers.
