Quesnel’s Verheyden commits to Mt. Royal University

The British Columbia Hockey League's Quesnel Millionaires are pleased to announce that graduating forward Jacob Verheyden has committed to attend Mount Royal University and suit up for the Alberta Colleges Athletics Conference's Cougars for the 2010/11 season. Verheyden provided an instant offensive boost to the Mills after joining the club midway through the 2009/10 campaign, scoring 12 goals and adding 23 assists in 31 regular season games. He was also a key contributor to the team's postseason run, netting six points in 12 games. The 21-year old split five seasons in the BCHL between the Merritt Centennials, Alberni Valley Bulldogs, Burnaby Express and Millionaires. In 189 regular season games the Vancouver product notched 35 goals and totalled 88 points. At Mt. Royal, Verheyden joins a Cougars squad that finished second in the ACAC with a record of 21-5-2 last season. He will suit up alongside former Mills forward Eric Galbraith and a cast of BCHL grads that includes Coleton Thielmann and Jordon Harrison. The entire Millionaires organization would like to congratulate Jacob and wish him well in his future plans.
