RBC Cup: Vipers book spot in Finals with shutout win over Brockville

As they have for much of their career with the Vernon Vipers, twin brothers Connor and Kellen Jones came through when it counted in Saturday's 2-0 semi-finals victory over the Brockville Braves. With the win, Vernon moves on to Sunday's Championship Game looking to capture their sixth RBC Cup title.

The Braves held the Vipers scoreless through 40 minutes despite being outshot 10-8 and 15-5 in the first and second periods respectively. But the Joneses came alive in the third, as Connor opened the scoring at the 9:41 mark off a set-up from his brother. Kellen then added the insurance marker with less than five minutes remaining in regulation, finishing a play started by Connor and Sahir Gill.

Graeme Gordon stopped all 20 shots that he faced in picking up his first shutout of the tournament. At the other end of the ice, Justin Gilbert was named Brockville's Player of the Game following a 33-save effort.

Vernon will now face the the Dauphin Kings in the Championship Game on Sunday. Face-off is set for 12:00 PM Pacific from Credit Union Place in Dauphin, and can be seen live on TSN2
