Reardon accepts offer to play for SAIT Trojans

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks Hockey Club is pleased to announce Jayson Reardon has committed to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Association for the upcoming season.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pound defenceman played two seasons for the SilverBacks. During the 2010-2011 campaign, the steady rearguard recorded 28 points in 47 games.

Prior to coming to Salmon Arm, Reardon played a full season in Trail.

At the end of this past season, Reardon won the award for most improved player and was also a member of Team of Team BCHL for the April tournament in Russia.

"We are very proud of Jayson and the great progress he has made during his tenure in Salmon Arm," said SilverBacks head coach Tim Kehler. "The SAIT Trojans are getting an elite-level defenceman and a quality individual who will enhance their hockey program and campus in general.

"The last third of the season, his game just kept steadily improving and we couldn't deny him the minutes he was earning," continued Kehler. "He developed in so many areas of his game while maintaining his defensive responsibility."

Reardon will join fellow BCHL grads Paul Mailey (Trail) and Sam Mitchel (Alberni Valley) at SAIT.
