Rickwood named first BCHL POW of 2020-21

Victoria Grizzlies forward Ellis Rickwood has been named the FortisBC BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Apr. 4.

Rickwood made quite the impression in his first regular-season action in the BCHL, notching five goals over his team’s two games this weekend.

The 18-year-old from Brantford, Ont. had a BCHL debut for the ages, scoring four times in regulation in the Grizzlies 6-5 shootout win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs on Friday. Rickwood scored twice in the first period and twice in the third, including the game-tying goal with under seven minutes to play to send the contest into extra time. Two of his four goals were scored with the man advantage.

Rickwood followed that up with another power-play goal less than 24 hours later in Victoria’s 4-3 loss to the Nanaimo Clippers on Saturday afternoon.

After the opening weekend of play, Rickwood is tied for the league lead in goals and points with five.
