Rogic plays hero again, netting winner in Double OT to sink Clippers

Johnny Rogic, overtime specialist? In a sport where there are all types of niche responsibilities, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs forward appears to have found one of the most rewarding and fun. Rogic struck for the double OT winner for the second time in less than a month on Saturday, completing a Bulldogs comeback in a 2-1 win over the Nanaimo Clippers.

Cody Bremner opened the scoring for Nanaimo at the 7:27 mark of the first period, finishing on a play engineered by linemate Carson Schell and newly acquired Clipper Teal Burns.

Following a scoreless middle frame, Bremner's marker seemed to be holding up as the potential winner until Matt Hatch evened the game midway through the third. Hatch later assisted on Rogic's winner, while the overtime hero also finished the night with two points.

Bulldogs netminder Frank Slubowski picked up first star honours on the road, turning aside 26 of 27 shots in just over 66 minutes of action. Mark Segal was the hard-luck loser in the Clippers goal after stopping all but two of the 28 pucks sent his way by Alberni Valley.

Nanaimo continues a three-game homestand on Saturday night when the Penticton Vees visit, while the Bulldogs return to the Valley for an encounter with the Westside Warriors.
