He’ll be back for another BCHL season but Victoria Grizzlies forward Jamie Rome showed enough as a rookie to earn an NCAA Div. I opportunity.
The Calgary product has agreed to play for the Broncos of Western Michigan University starting in the fall of 2018.
Rome produced 20 goals and 23 assists in 56 games to lead all Grizzlies rookies this season in Victoria. He added 15 points in 18 playoff games as well which was second on the team.
At Western Michigan, Rome will join a Broncos program that is coached by former NHL bench boss Andy Murray. Former BCHL players Aaron Hadley, Michael Rebry and Paul Stoykewych and Kale Bennett were on the roster this past season.
Western Michigan is located in Kalamazoo and the Broncos compete in the NCAA’s National Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHC). The other NCHC teams are Denver, North Dakota, Minnesota-Duluth, St. Cloud State, Miami-Ohio, Nebraska-Omaha and Colorado College.
Rome is currently the only BCHL player committed to WMU.
