Saturday Night Wrap Up

There were another six games played in the BCHL Saturday night as teams move through a very busy week.   The Burnaby Express, Victoria Grizzlies, Penticton Vees, Trail Smoke Eaters, Cowichan Valley Capitals, and Salmon Arm Silverbacks all put checks in the win column.

The Burnaby Express picked up their second straight win on their Interior road swing as they downed the Vernon Vipers 4-3 at the Vernon Multiplex.  Cody Campbell scored once and recorded two assists to lead the Express while netminder Kevin Jebson turned in a solid 38 save performance in goal.  Carlo Finucci, Brodie Reid, and Kurt Cowden were the other Express marksmen.

In Victoria, Matthew Wong stopped all 35 Westside Warrior shots to record the shut-out win as the Grizzlies downed the visitors 2-0.  Grant Toulmin and Justin Courtnall scored the Victoria goals.  Garry Nunn was the only other player to record a point as he earned one assist.

The Penticton Vees unloaded on the visIting Merritt Centennials as they scored 10 times enroute to a 10-1 win.  Zac Dalpe enjoyed a four point night as he scored once and added three assist for the Vees.  Michael Guzzo and Kyle McMurphy each scored twice and recorded single assists.  Bryan Mountain picked up the win in goal making 26 saves.

The Trail Smoke Eaters skated to a 4-2 win on home ice over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs at the Cominco Arena.  August Aiken and David Arduin both scored once and added single assists in the win.  Paul Barclay earned the win in goal as he was good on 28 of 30 Alberni Valley chances.

Bryce Reddick's goal in overtime gave the Cowichan Valley Capitals a 3-2 win over the visiting Langley Chiefs.  Mickey Spencer scored twice for the Capitals while Brooks Robinson also turned in a two point performance with two assists.  Kiefer Smiley made 37 saves in the Capitals goal to earn the win.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks got a power-play marker from Evan Pighin in the second overtime period to defeat the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-3 at the Sunwave Centre in Salmon Arm.  Derek Lee, Zac Rasmussen, and Conor Morrison recorded the other Silverback markers while Damon Kipp added two assists.  Jason Horstman stopped 26 of 29 shots in the Salmon Arm goal to record the win.
