Shaw BCHL Playoff Recap: Apr. 8

Nanaimo Clippers – 1
Langley Rivermen – 0

Shane Shelest stopped all 29 shots he faced to earn his first shutout in the BCHL and defenceman Grant Babcock, who only had two goals all regular season, scored the game winner 4:55 into the third period as the Nanaimo Clippers held on for a 1-0 victory over the Langley Rivermen in Game 5 of their first-round series to advance to the second round.

Rivermen goalie Ajeet Gundarah did all he could, stopping 32 of the 33 shots he faced and finished the postseason with an impressive .922 save percentage.

With the win, the Coastal Conference outlook is now clear with the top-seeded Clippers playing the number-five Chilliwack Chiefs and the second seed Surrey Eagles taking on the number-three Alberni Valley Bulldogs.
