Shaw BCHL Playoff Recap: May 2

Penticton Vees – 3
Salmon Arm Silverbacks – 2 (OT)

The Penticton Vees got a tying goal in the final minute and won the game 4:22 into overtime on a Thomas Pichette marker to beat the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 3-2 and take a 3-0 series lead. With the score 0-0 in the middle frame, Vees forward Josh Nadeau broke the deadlock on a deflection goal at the 12:50 mark to give his team a 1-0 edge. The Silverbacks responded quickly with a Maddux Martin tally and an Ethan Ullrick one-time marker with a minute left to take a 2-1 advantage at intermission. Penticton would tie things up when Bradly Nadeau potted a rebound in the final minute before Pichette found a loose puck in overtime and buried it for the winner. Salmon Arm will look to stay alive in Game 4 on Wednesday night.

Alberni Valley Bulldogs – 5
Chilliwack Chiefs – 1

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period and never looked back, eventually beating the Chilliwack Chiefs 5-1 to take a 3-0 series lead. Will Elger broke the ice with his fifth of the playoffs, followed by Dakota MacIntosh burying his 10th and Ethan Bono with his seventh, this time shorthanded, to give Alberni the three-goal lead after one. Dylan Kinch gave the Chiefs some life with a goal 30 seconds into the second, but MacIntosh replied with his second of the game and Cam VanSickle added on to make it a 5-1 final. Campbell Arnold stopped 25 of 26 shots in the win. Game 4 goes Wednesday night in Chilliwack with the home team trying to extend their season.
