Sherwood Park Crusaders forward Joseph Sinclair, Cowichan Valley Capitals goaltender Rhett Stoesser and Crusaders defenceman Stevie Grumley have been named the FortisBC 3 Stars of the Month.

1st Star – Joseph Sinclair (F) – Sherwood Park Crusaders

Sinclair is the BCHL’s leading scorer through the first month of the season with eight points in three contests, including a league-best tying six assists.

The Bowling Green State University commit has multiple points in each of his games played so far this year, including back-to-back three-point outings on Sep. 20 and 27. His goal on Sep. 20 against the Spruce Grove Saints stood up as the game-winner in a 6-2 home victory, while four of his assists this season have come with the man advantage.

2nd Star – Rhett Stoesser (G) – Cowichan Valley Capitals

Stoesser is a perfect 3-0 to start the season and finds himself leading the league in all categories among goaltenders with a minimum of two games played, including a .970 save percentage, 0.67 goals-against average and two shutouts.

The Cremona, Alta. product earned a shutout in his first BCHL game on Sep. 19 in an 8-0 win over the Surrey Eagles where he made 21 saves. Stoesser posted his second straight shutout by blanking the Chilliwack Chiefs 3-0 the following night on 24 stops. He earned his third straight victory on Sep. 26 in a 3-2 contest against the Alberni Valley Bulldogs.

3rd Star – Stevie Grumley (D) – Sherwood Park Crusaders

Grumley’s seven points in three games leads all BCHL defencemen through the opening month of the season as do his three goals.

The second-year Crusader started his year with two goals and an assist against the Okotoks Oilers in his team’s 6-3 opening-night victory. He finished off September with another three-point performance, this time with a goal and two helpers, including the game-winning tally, in a 7-3 win over the Brooks Bandits where he was named the game’s first star.
