Slubowski commits to Western Michigan

The British Columbia Hockey League's Alberni Valley Bulldogs are pleased to announce that goaltender Frank Slubowski has accepted a scholarship to the University of Western Michigan and will suit up for the NCAA Division I Broncos for the 2011/12 season.

The 20-year old netminder from Prince Rupert, B.C. backstopped the Bulldogs to a franchise season in wins and points during the 2009/10 campaign. Slubowski had a record of 32 -10-1 with a 2.24 GAA and .919 save percentage. So far in 2010/11, Slubowski has posted a 8-4-1 record with a 2.72 GAA and .914 save percentage.

“Frank is a quality person who has worked extremely hard for this opportunity,” says Bulldogs head coach Paul Esdale. “We are proud to see Frank accomplish his goal of attaining an NCAA Division I scholarship.”

“Frank’s story is a special one. He persevered through tough times when he missed the whole 2008/09 season with an injury. Frank's dedication and commitment has led him to this point. I have no doubt he will develop into an outstanding college goalie.”
