Steele snags BCHLPOW honours

Nanaimo Clippers forward Sammy Steele has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 11, the league announced Tuesday.

Steele registered a hat trick plus three assists in helping the Clippers to a pair of home wins over Island Division rivals. The 6-foot-4, 193-pound forward notched his hat trick, which included a power-play game-winner with eight seconds left in regulation, in a 5-4 victory over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. He was named the game’s 1st Star. Steele followed that by setting up three of his team’s goals in a 5-3 win over the Powell River Kings.

A native of Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, Steele now has six goals and six assists in 11 games since joining the Clippers from the Penticton Vees. He is committed to Arizona State University for next season.
