For Immediate Release

The Cowichan Valley Capitals are pleased to announce that Jason Wild has been hired as an assistant coach. We are excited about adding Jason to our coaching staff, he will compliment both Head Coach Scott Robinson and Assistant Doug Bodger”, said General Manager Clayton Wright. “Our players will benefit from having three quality coaches to work with.”

Wild, 26 was an Assistant coach with the British National League Champions Bracknell Bees in 2004-2005. Prior to his stint in England, he was the head coach of the Summerland Sting Junior B team. As a player, Wild played his Junior Hockey in his home town of Penticton for the Vees and later spent 3 season at Red Deer College. In the summer, Wild is a mainstay at the Okanagan Hockey School where he is an instructor.

Wild is looking forward to the upcoming Hockey season. “I am excited for the opportunity to be a part of this coaching staff and the Capitals organization”

The Cowichan Valley Capitals are pleased to announce that Melissa Skibinski (CATC, B.E.S.S-AT, and CSCS) has been hired as the Club’s Athletic therapist.

Skibinski, who hails from Fisher Branch Manitoba, graduated from the University of Manitoba’s Athletic Therapy Program and is a certified athletic therapist through the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association. Her experience includes Internships with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose and the Chicago Black Hawks.

Skibinski has already been on the bench for all the Training Camp ice sessions and games to date for the Caps. She is looking forward to working with the players, coaches and volunteers this season.

The Cowichan Valley Capitals Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Steve Sxwithul-txw pronounced (swee-thult) has been named as the Capitals new Play by Play announcer. Steve was born and raised in the Cowichan Valley and graduated from Cowichan Secondary School.

He is joined by his wife Veronica, his daughter Chelsea and his step son Stanley. Steve was a first Nations Police officer in Alberta and is now pursuing a career in broadcast and Journalism. He is also a strong advocate for First Nations, and a huge hockey fan. Steve is very excited about his new position and looking forward to hearing from the fans during the games.
